Ann Edwards Obituary

Ann Lobach Edwards CHARLESTON - Ann Lobach Edwards passed away peacefully in Charleston, SC December 22. She was preceded in death by her husband Cliff Edwards her parents James and Emma Lobach and her brother James Lobach. She is survived by her 3 sons and their families: Jim and Eve (Spratt) Edwards of the Isle of Palms, SC, Rick Edwards of Wilmington, NC, and Tom and Lisa Edwards of Encinitas, CA, along with her 4 grandchildren, great-grandson, her 2 nephews, sister-in-law and their families. Ann was born 11-9-20 in Allentown, PA. She attended Penn State and graduated in 1941 followed by 3 years teaching in Shamokin, PA. She left to help in World War II through the American Red Cross. She was stationed in Lyon, France and worked supporting the United States troops. She traveled throughout Europe and met with the Pope in Rome. Most importantly she met the love of her life, Cliff in 1945. They were married in Allentown in 1947. Shortly thereafter she moved to Henderson, NC where she taught middle school and then in 1953 the family moved to Raleigh. There she was one of the first public school kindergarten teachers in NC. She enjoyed many family trips to their retreat in Holden Beach and the Poconos. She was active in her church, bridge, cooking and square dancing and traveled with her husband and family extensively throughout the world. She left Raleigh in April 2012 to move to Daniel Island, SC near her son Jim's family. Her family wishes to thank the entire staffs of the Summit Place of Daniel Island and Southern Care Hospice, as well as Frank and Susan Sanders of Holy Cross, all for their loving support. A Memorial Service will be held at Highland Methodist Church Saturday January 4 1pm 1901 Ridge Road, Raleigh, NC.
