Anita was born on January 22, 1931 in Stuttgart, Germany to Johannes and Rosine Ruf. She was her father’s favorite child and the youngest sibling to Heinz, Kurt and Walter. Anita was an excellent student, raised in the church and devoted to her family.
In 1951, Anita met the “love of her life”, James Robinson Jr., as he served as Military Police in the U.S. Army during occupation of Germany after WWII. For her Love, she made the life changing decision to leave Stuttgart in 1953, live in Ontario and Montréal for 3 years, get married on December 29, 1955 and then, move to Philadelphia, PA in 1956. Anita worked as a circuit board engineer at Honeywell, bought a home with James in Germantown (Philadelphia neighborhood) in 1960 and became a U.S. citizen in 1963.
In 1970, Anita and James decided to expand the family to three and were united with Derreck James Robinson lovingly known as the “apple of her eye”. Unexpectedly, James passed November 3, 1974 and Anita devoted her life to raising their son. Love, care, belief, discipline, commitment and a nurturing environment where the backbone of her parenting style.
Anita led a full life making a difference in the lives of so many people she touched. She worked as Director of St. Paul’s Senior Center, traveled frequently to Stuttgart and across Europe to see family and was always committed to the church. She treated family, friends and even strangers with kindness, decency and respect.
Anita was called home on April 19, 2020 where she rejoined her husband and so many family and friends waiting to see her again. Anita leaves behind her daughter-in-law Melanie Robinson, grandchildren (Amber, Zachary, Cami and Brandon), great grandchildren and lots of loving family and friends.
