Dear Aunt Angela,
As a child we take the time we have with loved ones for granted. As a teenager time slides past us without any hesitation. As an adult we forget about the special memories and moments we experienced growing up. But every so often something happens that causes all of the memories to come flooding back in a vastly unforgettable way, and this was a defining tragedy that forced the memories to the surface. When Daddy tried to call me I was at work with no service to receive the texts or calls that our family were sending. After a long day and feeling accomplished, I went to the office to finish up the work day only to receive texts from Abby and Lauren telling me to please, call Daddy. I did. I heard the news. And my heart aches from 2,000 miles away in Wyoming. The first memory that came to mind was your red lipstick, the smell of wine you and mama used to drink, and your wonderful distinctive Flannery Laugh that sounds so much like Grandmamas. I thought about the times you busted us doing bad things growing up and the smile youd crack when you turned around after getting onto us for being bad kids. I thought about Kaitlyn, Rivers, uncle Mike, and Thanksgiving. And I thought about how much I shouldve told you I loved you more. You were a wonderful person who looked so much like my mama and who loved her family unconditionally. Ill speak for me. Im heartbroken. Ive been pondering on what to say over that last few days because Ive been unable to make it to your funeral this morning. Im thinking of all the high heels of yours you gave me sitting in my closet at home in Georgia that will be cherished forever. Im thinking now about how much I love you and I took the time I had with you for granted. You will ALWAYS be missed, loved, and cherished by me. I miss you.
Love,
Your Niece
Emily

In loving memory of a wonderful woman. The world's wil not be the same without you. I just can't make sense of anything of it right now. I will love you and miss you always & cherish the laughs we had. I wish I lived closer to have been able to see you more. I'll always remember trying to hide in your suit case so you could take me back to SC for the summer, like our parents wouldn't notice.
Love you Cuz!
