Andrew Peter Magwood AWENDAW - Andrew Peter Magwood, 84, of Awendaw, South Carolina, husband of Rebecca Hill Magwood, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, February 22, 2023. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023 in the The Church at LifePark, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at the church an hour before the service. Burial will be private. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel. Andrew was born April 22, 1938 in Charleston, South Carolina, one of 11 children, son of the late Clarence Augustus Magwood, Sr. and late Ethel Legare Magwood. He grew up on Little Bull's Island and proudly served his country in the US Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Andrew returned to the Lowcountry to spend his life in the community his family helped build. The Magwood name is synonymous with Lowcountry shrimping, and he was no exception, fishing on the water his whole life, catching shrimp, oysters and clams. He attended The Church at LifePark and will be missed by his community and his family. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rebecca Magwood; four children, daughters, Renay S. Crane of Knoxville, TN, Richard K. Spellman (Tammi) of Sullivan's Island, SC, Leslie W. Lawson (Mark) of Summerville, SC, and Amy W. Geddes (Don) of James Island, SC; three sisters, Marcia Curran of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Thomasine Parham of VA, and Mary Causey (Robert) of Awendaw; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
