Andrei Bazdyrev Obituary

Andrei I. Bazdyrev Andrei Bazdyrev, 48, was a courageous, kind, and intelligent man. Born in Novosibirsk, Russia, he spent his last year battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He came to America when he was 28, after having achieved university degrees in English and German language instruction and translation. He later earned an MS in computer systems from City University and became a data architect. He worked for the State of Washington for 19 years, first at DSHS and most recently for the Department of Early Learning. Andrei's love of music spanned his whole life. From a teenage rock band to classical guitar studies to recording Mark Knopfler covers, Andrei loved it all. He loved his daughter Juliana even more. She is, in fact, his greatest joy. Deeply missed by his friends and relatives across the globe, Andrei was especially thankful for the kindness and support of the 10th floor staff at "Hotel St. Jo's," his oncologist Frank Senecal, and his co-workers at DEL. Andrei is survived by his daughter Juliana from his marriage to Michele Bazdyrev, his family in Russia (brother and sister-in-law Sergei and Tatyana Bazdyrev, nephew Illya, niece Svetlana), and his fiancée Stephanie Lile. A memorial celebration will be held at 2pm on Sunday, September 4, in the Lodge at Pt. Defiance Park. Donations may be made in Andrei's honor to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (http://www.lls.org) in hopes that more research on the effective treatment of adult ALL may help others.

Andrei was a very dear friend to us. Although we lived at the same sity back in Siberia more so across the street from each other we met Andrei only at a time we came to America. He played a big part in the chain of events that brought us here. By meeting Frank, who called Andrei his Russian son, and introducing him to Siberia and the young children's theater studio from Novosibirsk, he sealed our fate.
We are forever grateful to Andrei not only for introducing us to Frank, but for the priceless advice and the tremendous support he gave us when we were just beginning our lives on this new continent. Andrei loved America -- and along with Frank , he helped us discover America...opening our minds and our hearts to many wonderful American traditions (summer BBQs, listening to Frank Zappa on a rainy evening, Bumbershoot in Seattle, enjoying great Seaside firework on the Fourth of July).
We will miss Andrei. Life will never be the same without him. But we will keep his memory alive, remembering Andrei as a wonderful friend, always willing to help and always giving good advice. He was one of those friends you could just count on. We will also remember him as a great father and family man (Juliana was his little sunshine and Stephanie made him a very happy man). We will also remember him as a caring and loving son to his late parents Evdokia and Ivan, who were very proud of Andrei's many accomplishments and, most of all, his big and his generous heart.
You were too young to leave this world!

Stephanie and all of Andrei's family and friends- Mark Knopfler never sounded so good. I will miss Andrei and hope that in his power you can find strength to live life to it's fullest. I will always remember Andrei.

We are from the same city in Siberia where Andrei grew up and it has been a privelege to call him a friend! None of us were ready for him to go. Rest in peace, Andrei.
