Amy Robinson Obituary

Amy Ollis Robinson JAMES ISLAND - Amy Ollis Robinson, the loving mother of Daphne, wife of Todd, and friend to many, completed her earthly adventure on April 23, 2022. Amy had made James Island her home since 2000. Born on September 22, 1974 in Asheville, North Carolina, Amy was the daughter of John William Ollis and Amelia Gibson Ollis, now of Charleston. She was a graduate of Appalachian State University. After marriage, she completed a graduate degree at East Carolina University. She lived for a year in College Park, Maryland before settling permanently in Charleston. Amy was a Speech-Language Pathologist for Charleston County Schools for twenty-three years. She touched countless lives and helped hundreds of children, working through days, nights, and weekends. Amy endeared herself to others with her kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity, and her sweet, quirky personality. She was quick to notice a person in need and first to do something about it. A loving and devoted mother, she also loved her daughter's friends like they were her own children. She taught Sunday School and was a member of James Island Presbyterian Church and sometimes attended James Island Baptist Church. She loved Jesus but cussed a little. She once saw a ghost and believed in them. She authored a novel, enjoyed true crime stories, was a majorette in high school, and twirled flaming batons. Amy was a vegetarian, kept her bird feeders full, enjoyed the fun of astrology, and supported the James Island Charter High School soccer teams. She liked live music, especially Angels and Airways, the Wild Feathers, Interpol, Chris Cornell, and bluegrass. Amy relished Mexican food, delighted in "Anne with an E," liked to read, and appreciated the mountains where she came from and the beach where she moved to. She savored coffee and wine. Amy hated cruelty and injustice, and was saddened by the unfairness of life, but never lost her hope or faith in humanity or God. She was a tough and courageous fighter and put the cares of others above her own. Most of all, she loved her family, friends, and pets. In addition to her husband, daughter, and parents, Amy is survived by her brother, Chris Ollis, his wife, Jill and her nieces, Olivia and Cecilia of Mount Pleasant, her parents-in-law, Michael and Kay Robinson and brother-in-law, Wil of Candler, NC, and her many close friends who meant the world to her. She will be dearly missed. There will be a private interment at a later date. She was my speech teacher 22 years ago at St. Andrews. After six years of speech therapy with her, she is the reason I am able to speak well today. She will be greatly missed by me and my family.

I am so sorry to hear of Amy´s passing. Amy was my first friend in the church nursery and was very important to me all through school. She was the one who first called me "Peevie" and it stuck for years. Even though we lost touch as adults, when we did see each other last, it was as if no time had passed. Amy was like no other, kind to everyone, and made each person feel important and included. My thoughts and prayers are with all of her family.
