Amy Connor Obituary

CONNOR, Amy Amy Sadler Connor of Mt. Pleasant, SC, wife of Parker E. Connor, Jr. died Friday, September 22, 2006. Mrs. Connor was born May 13, 1920 in Pendleton, South Carolina, the daughter of Baxter Hardy Sadler and Ella Sitton Sadler. She attended city schools in Greenville, SC and graduated with a BA degree from Furman University. She received a Masters degree from St. Lawrence University. A lifelong teacher, she taught in elementary schools in New York state, Richmond, Virginia and Edisto Island, SC. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church o n Edisto Island and was a founding member of the Edisto Island Historical Preservation Society. She was a member of the Lowcountry Open Land Trust, the Charleston Preservation Society, the Nature Conservancy and the Edisto Island Community Association. She is survived by a son, Parker, E. Connor, III and wife, Karen S. Connor, two daughters, Katherine C. van Bakergem and husband, W. Davis van Bakergem, and Amy C. Byrd. She is also survived by six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
