Amelia Louise "Molly" Pratt
Charleston - My name is Amelia Louise ("Molly") Pratt. I was born at Old Roper in Charleston, December 5, 1945, daughter of Eunice Hare Johnston and Dr. Edward Wallace Pratt. I graduated from The High School of Charleston, in 63, went to CofC '63, Palmer College '64, and decided I was gonna be one of those glamorous legal secretaries (I mean they were in the "60s) for 50 years along with being a screaming liberal.
I had two older sisters: Maggie Swain Simons (wild woman) and Jo Swain Wright-Cawley (brain woman). I have had my wonderful husband Baird Mallory for the past 18 years (see you can get married in your 60s), and his beautiful daughter (Jennifer) and her loving guy Mark Dukes (Columbia). I have wonderful living blood cousins: Beverly (Indiana), Peggy (Columbia), Jimmy, Danielle, Davey, and Cantey Hare (Pinopolis & Charleston) and friends, but because I am so old I have a truckload of fabulous friends & relatives in the Big Sky.
I moved to San Francisco in 1972 for 20 years, returned to Charleston after Hugo, got a little house, and have entertained and traveled and loved and lost and won. I've taught aerobics in SF and Chas and been a Reading Partner 7 years. I have traveled to Greece, Italy, Israel, France, and Ireland. I love entertaining, cooking, reading, exercising at the St. Andrews Fitness Center, gardening, writing, and attending 8AM Sundays at Holy Communion for my sins.
I thank you Dr. Ricky Albenesius, Dr. Robert Ishak, Hollings Cancer Center MUSC, and Crescent Hospice, including Chrisine Puskar, Merritt Segar, Amanda Dunlap, Nicole Petrick, Tierra Grant and Brittinie Gleason.
In 80 years, I have only had 4 rotten, lousy years. That's why I simply don't feel sad about going to visit my old friends and relatives. It has been exciting, fun, laughable, cryable, enjoyable. Au revoir.
Molly Pratt entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 14, 2026. Funeral Services will be held at Holy Communion Episcopal Church, 218 Ashley Avenue, Charleston, S. C., on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 2:00 P.M.

She was a true, living angel! She gave the best hugs, and she exudeded happiness! You could never be sad or mad in her presence, she would make sure of that! You will be greatly missed! RIP Ms. Molly!

Sadly I did not know Molly, but the article about her in the Post and Courier made me want to model my life..and my death...after her.
Something about her really resonated for me. I extend my heartfelt sympathy to her family and friends. For someone so full of love and joy to pass, I am sure the void it has left is hard to bear. I am so very sorry.

I didn´t know Molly personally, but after reading the post and the Courier article, I was truly moved. She sounded like a wonderful woman with an incredible perspective on life. The article allowed me to take a small piece of her spirit with me and remember her. May she rest in peace

Ms Molly was something!! I use to groom her little pup at Susan´s VIP. And she thought it was hilarious that renamed her Bill bad a**. she doesn´t love the grooming and I had to talk her into most of it.
Molly made us laugh every time she came in to see us. She was just one of life´s characters and I know she´ll be missed.

Molly, was one of the most enjoyable people in my life as a young lawyer. Her wit was sharp as a tack, and her laugh was loud and contagious. I will miss her and her memory will be a blessing.

Baird, I am so sorry to hear of Molly's passing, and extremely sorry that I just learned of her passing so I was unable to attend the service. Molly was near and dear to me and my children for many years. What a lady! There was only one! Please know that thoughts and prayers are with you now. I'm sure losing such a spirit is tough. Molly will join my dear son, Brett Mullan, and oh the fun those two will stir up! Take care of you!

Molly was my adopted sister that sister I never had. I loved her dearly and played bridge with her Rabbit. It was wonderful when she moved back to Charleston after 20 yrs in California. A very special lady

I was devastated to learn of sweet Molly's passing. I met Molly at St. Andrew's Fitness Center, where she participated in my group fitness classes. She introduced herself to me as "the sweet one!" And she absolutely was. She made me feel so welcomed. I loved hearing her stories, sharing recipes with each other, and just chatting about life. Molly was a light and seeing her always brightened my day. I will always remember her for her positivity, quick wit, and generosity. My prayers are with Baird, her family, and loved ones. Rest in Peace Molly!

I am heartbroken to lose a dear friend but take comfort in knowing she is in a beautiful place and smiling down on all of us. Molly and I formed a friendship in fitness classes at St. Andrews Fitness Center. She was so outgoing and knew almost everyone at the gym. Molly was the most genuine and upbeat person you could ever meet and could always make you laugh. Thanks to Molly´s invitation, I became a member of her book club. She was a special friend and will always remain close in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with Baird and her family and friends. Molly was the BEST of the best. May she rest in peace!
