Alvin Wisco Obituary

Alvin A. Wisco CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Alvin A. Wisco died on Sept. 21, 2014 at the age of 92 years old. He was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Emma Wisco of Platteville WI; his brothers Harold and Ralph; and his wife Janine, who died in 2010. Their surviving children are: a son, Eric, married to Aysim, of Greensboro, NC and a daughter, Sandy of Charlottesville, VA. Al is an Army veteran who served in Rouen France during the American occupation where he met Janine. They married in France and made a home together in the US. Al was a metallurgical engineer working with tungsten filament for lamps. He was a Boy Scout leader and an active Christian in Lutheran traditions for many years. The only time he cooked was when the family went camping and then he was responsible for breakfast. Most other meals he enjoyed were prepared by Janine, who was a gourmet cook. Al leaves behind many friends in NJ, SC, and new friends at The Lodge at Old Trail in Crozet where he lived his final year. Al was proud of his children. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered in his memory to your local Habitat for Humanity or Meals on Wheels. These were two organizations in which he volunteered for many years in SC. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church (ELCA), located at 100 Alderman Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903 on November 1st at 4:00 pm. Visitation with the family follows the service. His ashes will be interred at the family plot in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster, WI. Friends may sign a guest register at teaguefuneralhome.com.
