Anne Bater Obituary

Anne (Savikoski) Bater, 84, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away peacefully at home in hospice care on August 12, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on April 11, 1941, in Concord, MA, Anne grew up in Maynard, MA, with her parents, George and Phyllis (Priest) Savikoski, and graduated from Maynard High School in 1958. In July 1973, she married her beloved husband, Walter F. Bater Jr., and they settled in Hudson, MA, where they raised their family for 44 years. In 2017, Anne and Walter relocated to Punta Gorda, FL, embracing a sunnier, warmer chapter of life.

For over two decades, Anne cherished summer retreats in York Beach, ME, where she made lasting memories with Walter, their children, grandchildren, and dear friends. A woman of simple joys, Anne loved reading romance books, solving jigsaw puzzles, shopping at her favorite stores, watching movies, and cheering for her teams during Sunday football games. She held a special place in her heart for Green Leaves Chinese Restaurant in York, ME, where the owner, Andy, and his staff created unforgettable dining experiences that Anne and her family treasured.

Anne's last wish and legacy will be honored by scattering her keepsake ashes in the ocean at York Beach, ME, a place that brought her immense happiness.

She was predeceased by her devoted parents, George and Phyllis Savikoski. Anne leaves behind her loving husband of 52 years, Walter F. Bater Jr., of Punta Gorda, FL; her cherished children, Joseph (Terry) Rizzitano, Suzanne Rizzitano, Joanne (John) Rizzitano, Walter F. (Sandy) Bater III, and Kristopher (Rebecca) Bater; her 10 adored grandchildren, Christina, Stephanie, Gena, Anthony, Daekin, Tanya, Jake, Sophia, Erik, and Evelyn; and her five great-grandchildren, Quinn, Matthew, Karli, Paul, and Liam.

A private family memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to Anne's heart, at www.stjude.org.
