I was a resident at MUSC in the late 70s and early 80s. Dr. Lemel was more than generous with his time and talents and integral to our learning of temporal bone anatomy. I was very sorry to hear of his passing. He will be much missed by all who benefit from his knowledge and dedication.

Blessings to the family and friends of my dear friend and co-worker, Dr.Larry Lemel. Words cannot express how much he will be missed. He was always there to lean a hand or a listening ear to so many who were lucky enough to cross his path in life. I know that his loving spirit will be felt in the halls and physician dining area at Roper Hospital downtown forever.
God Bless,

Condolences to the family and close friends of this wonderful man and doctor. It's hard to express with words how sorry I am to have heard this news. Back in the late sixties a doctor responded to an emergency in the old ER at the rear of Roper when a young man had taken a line-drive to the left eye and cheek. The bone above his brow was broken and his cheek bone was shattered. That was the patients first experience with the doctor the ER staff had called in. The doctor had a nice personality and pleasing demeanor. He also was sporting one of those headlights (I think that's what they're called.) The fine doctor calmed the patient down, conducted a thorough exam including x-rays, and had him admitted. A few days later after bleeding had subsided the doctor literally put Humpty Dumpty back together again. That was Doctor Larry Lemel. I was the patient. I'm 69 years old now and still recall that night in the ER. Of course Dr. Lemel became my ENT until he quit practicing with the public. I thank God for doctors like Larry Lemel. He was such a comforting individual. He would also be the ENT specialist for my wife and children and actually put tubes in my youngest son's ears. Then came the day several years ago when I called for an appointment and the receptionist gave me the bad news that the doctor had quit seeing his patients but she hooked me up with Dr. Michael Noone. This would be another blessing as he was the product of Dr. Lemel's tutelage. He is a wonderful doctor too and when I'd have an appointment we'd talk about doctor Lemel. They were very close friends. I actually had an appointment with doctor Noone last Tuesday, October 25th. As usual I asked him how Dr. Lemel was doing and he gave me the sad news. I know Dr. Noone is deeply saddened as well Dr. Lemel's other colleagues and friends. The medical profession has lost a wonderful doctor and a good man. Steve Reaves, Hanahan, SC

Sending my deepest sympathies and prayers to Dr. Lemel's loved ones. I will treasure the memories of times spent with Dr. Lemel, Carol, and my OR friends; and always making a special batch of that salsa recipe he loved so much. We will miss you so very much.

I worked with Dr.Lemel, at Roper, he had the most kind and gentle heart. When he needed assistance on the floor, I was always willing to help. I am sorry for his family in their loss, but I will miss him along with all his patients and friends. The Lord needs another Angel. Dr.Lemel is his choice. No tears, you and I will see him again.
