Alison Renee Crosby MT. PLEASANT - Alison Renee Crosby, of Mount Pleasant, SC, wife of Paul Glick, passed away on Saturday, November 21st, 2015 after a year-long courageous battle with metastatic melanoma. She left this earth peacefully at her home, under the care of Roper St. Francis Hospice, with her family by her side as she slipped away from this life to enter the Eternal Light of the Kingdom of God. Alison was born and raised on James Island. She attended Nativity Elementary School, Bishop England High School, and graduated from Winthrop University. She moved to Charlotte, NC, where she worked for the Winston Cup on Scene magazine and then later for the Charlotte Business Journal. Her last and most enjoyable position was operations manager of Sam Schirmer Nationwide Insurance Company in Mount Pleasant. Paul and Alison married in 1998 in Charleston, SC and then moved to Charlotte, NC. They returned to Charleston, SC in 2002 and built a home in Seaside Farms in Mount Pleasant to be near family and the ocean. She loved boating with family and friends, exploring the islands and waterways, and enjoying the beauty that nature had provided. Alison loved to travel. She visited Europe, Nova Scotia, the Canadian Rockies, the beauty of St. John USVI, the BVI, Costa Rica, Bahamas, Grand Cayman Islands, Cozumel, and Bermuda. She also loved to travel in the United States, from the coast of California to the coast of Maine. Some of her favorite places included Hawaii, the Northwest, Florida, the villages of Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and Boothbay Harbor, Maine for the platters of lobster. During the spring, summer, and fall, Alison and Paul would take the camper anywhere from the beaches to the mountains. Her favorite camping spot was Hunting Island State Park, SC. Alison participated in many business and charitable events. She was a Red Cross volunteer in Charlotte and served various positions on the Seaside Farms HOA in Mt. Pleasant. Alison was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the James Island Yacht Club. She spent her childhood at the Yacht Club where she learned to sail all types of boats. Alison and her brother, Eric would sail Sunfish and Hobie sailboats for pleasure and for competition in regattas held each year at the club. She was one of "Frank's Original Angels", serving meals at the club for special events. Alison is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Paul S. Glick of Mount Pleasant; her mother and father, Bill (Billy Jack) and Arleen Crosby of James Island; her stepsons, Brock and Ryan Glick; stepdaughter, Amanda Glick Jacobs and her husband Jessie Jacobs; several grandchildren; and her sister of the heart and special friend, Beth Hollowell of Charlotte, NC.
