I met Mrs. Banks when she came to Ashley Hall to recruit blood donors in the mid 80's. A group of high school girls is a pretty tough audience but Mrs. Banks radiated a charm that won us over immediately. This plus the fact that the donation period coincided with a math class and well, a needle all of a sudden didn't seem so bad. She was able to cart me and several friends away for a generous portion of our school day and a trip to Burger King to boot.
Over the following decades she never failed to remember me whenever I had the pleasure of running into her.
I can think of no more fitting tribute than to relay her legacy in my life. I have remained an (almost) regular blood donor and passed that habit on to my eldest daughter. Just last Tuesday I thought of Mrs. Banks and all of the fun we had when I went to donate in my new city, New Orleans. Mrs. Banks was silly and warm and smart enough to use the math class schedule to her full advantage. She "rescued" us many times in our high school career. She was a bright spot for me and many others and I am grateful to have known her.

Ralph and I loved Susanne. We were friends at Pinecrest Baptist Church. She always had a big smile and a cheerful attitude. She had a lovely voice and was an asset to the choir and to the entire church family.

David, I'm sorry I can't be there. We are at our mountain house and I just found out. She will surely be missed. Jim

I knew Susanne when I worked at MUSC Hospital Administration and she was Volunteer Director. She was fun and funny and a great lady. She will be missed.
