Alice Toomer Obituary


TOOMER, Alice JACKSONBORO Mrs. Alice Eugenia Toomer, 51, of 134 Hope Plantation Road in Jacksonboro, died Tuesday morning, December 19, 2006, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. Funeral services will be held 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, December 21, 2006, in The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with Reverend Shawn Hanks and Reverend Allen Ard officiating. Entombment will follow in Glendale Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro. Mrs. Toomer was born January 7, 1955, in Walterboro and was a daughter of the late Eugene Padgett, Jr. and the late Helen Carson Padgett. She was a member of Jones Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church. She will be remembered by all for her love of her family, especially her grandchildren and Hannah. Also, people will remember her love of yard sales and flea markets and the admiration she possessed for the mountains. Surviving are: her husband, Mr. Michael Toomer; her children, Priscilla and her husband Billy Rogers, Jr., Juanita and her husband Jimmy Hunt, Vincent Everett Skibo Hughes all of Ruffin, Brenda Tinneson and Kenneth Winslow Pierson both of Waycross, Georgia; her brothers, Richard Ricky Padgett and Michael Padgett both of Walterboro; sisters, Barbara Vance of Ruffin, Gloria Jean Padgett of Barnwell, Patricia Annette Jennings of Fairfax, Geraldine Tracy of Cottageville, and Elizabeth Wiggins of Lodge. Her grandchildren, Brent Rogers, Cameron Rogers, Bonnie Hunt, Caitlin Hunt, and Cody Hunt also survive her. She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Ramsey.
