To the Family--We in the North Carolina Asbestos Program were so sorry to hear about Alfreda's passing. She was a great gal and an outstanding administrator. We will miss her greatly! Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thanks to all of you that have taken the time to send your condolences with our family. As I opened Aunt Freda's death notice. I saw the link to a guest book. My heart is filled with the many kind words on her behalf. Althogh this is a long road for our family, we know that everything is in God's hand and God is taking good care of her. I remember when I met Robert at Theological Seminary, he said when the girls moved to Atlanta, I want you to meet my sisters. What a joyful family, the warmth and love you can instantly feel. May God comfort you in the day's ahead and your hearts soon be fill with wonderful memories. Remember she loved everyone. Freda is with our Father, Heavenly and peaceful. My brother up there will greet her with joy and love.

I met Alfreda after joining St. John and although I only knew her for a short while she made me feel like we had known one another for years. Alfreda would often call or send me an email just to say “hello, I haven’t forgotten about you.” She was unselfish that way, she was my friend. The evening bus rides from work will not be the same without her. But what I cherish most is that in every conversation, Alfreda always said “be encouraged.”

So I say to you “be encouraged!” God is with you.

My prayers are with you. I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Freeman and the family at Emory University Hospital as one of the Chaplains at Emory. A wonderful family. Continue to put your trust in the hands of God. God will see you through this.

I remember Brenda and Freda coming to my home late one night in Savannah,Georgia. "I just wanted you to meet my sister, Freda", Brenda said.
I instantly admired her warmth,"down to earth disposition" and smile. She asked for some item I had on my table and I said "Take it". Even though it wasn't all that to me, Freda beamed. Brenda and I were just talking about that about two weeks ago,even though we couldn't remember what the item was.
Go with God, Freda. Heaven and Peace awaits you. I have a brother up there who will instantly know you are a Freeman with a garden in South Carolina.

Alfreda 's loving spirit will always be remembered. She touched my life as a part of the St John AME family in Fairburn GA. There are many adjectives one could use to describe Alfreda, but the ones that will remain in my memory and heart are gentle and quiet, warm and sincere, friendly and caring and most of all a professed love for our Heavenly Father.
