One of the very top highlights of my long career at the College of American Pathologists was the opportunity to meet Al. He soon became my mentor, confidant and life-long best pal. Al dispensed great wisdom (whether on the job or at Landini’s), always made me laugh, and was a very loyal friend. Even now, Ellie, I often recall with fond memories the great adventures you, Al, and I had in all parts of the country at Board meetings. You both welcomed me into your home and your hearts, and I’ll never forget that. I miss Al, and will always love you guys.

Those few times I was able to visit with Uncle Sal will always be the most treasured. In his many travels he always seemed to appear out of nowhere to visit mom here in Phoenix. I sometimes wonder what life would have been like if we where raised in New York. As for the family, it is always hardest for the living to live on, however we do. Remember those best of times and cherish those memories as your own. Remember and live your life in a way that would make him most proud.

I miss taste-testing the miller lite with Al on Friday nights. We always had a grand time joking with the bar and listening to Als` stories. I will miss him. His sense of humor and out-going personaity made him one of my favorite people.

What a nice gentleman and great fellow Al was to everyone. Beneath that gruff voice was a teddy bear who loved his family. We had lots of fun together, Al...long live Miss Elly!

I have thought so much of all of you in the last few days.
Al was not only very successful in his job-he was a great friend. I will always remember him at social gatherings and especially his big 80th birthday bash! He was truly remarkable and will be sorely missed by many.
