Alfred Annibale Obituary

Alfred Anthony Annibale CONWAY, SC - Alfred Anthony Annibale, age 88, of Conway, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at his residence. Alfred was born in Scranton PA, September 16, 1928, a son of the late Gerard and Carmela M. Annibale. He attended Dunmore High School, was in the marching band, and graduated with the class of 1946; he also attended Trident Technical College in Charleston, SC where he obtained Associates degrees in both Business and Accounting. After 20 years of service, Alfred retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air Force, where he served in both Okinawa and Vietnam. During his tenure, he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal and the South Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans, the Air Force Sergeants Association, the Non-commissioned Officers Association, and charter member of the National WW II Museum. He was stationed in Myrtle Beach AFB two times and was instrumental in implementing the first working standards on GCA units and Air Traffic Control for the Air Force, where he received a commendation from President Eisenhower for his work. After the military he retired as a letter carrier from the Charleston, SC Postal Service. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. Alfred had a passion for music He was a member of several jazz bands performing across the country, including a regular gig at The Pine Lakes Country Club, Myrtle Beach, SC in the early 1960's and he was a past member of the Charleston Opera Company and The Charleston Singers Guild. He was a past member of Pinecrest Baptist Church of Charleston, SC and Tilly Swamp Baptist Church, Conway, SC, serving as deacon at both and in the adult choirs. He was a member of Nixonville Chapel and served as deacon, a trustee and treasurer. Along with his parents, Alfred was predeceased by one son, Thomas Anthony Annibale; and three brothers, Michael, Emilio, and Albert Annibale. Alfred is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lucille Thomas Annibale; one daughter, Marcia Balazs and her husband Geza of Conway; one son, Terry Annibale and his wife Carla of North Myrtle Beach; three grandsons, Justin Sample, Andrew Annibale, and Robert Sample; two granddaughters, Jen Sample, Casey Annibale; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Pagnozzia and Yolanda Straface. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Goldfinch Funeral Home Conway Chapel, with Rev. Lamar Boulware and Rev. Mitch Anderson Officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Sorry to hear about your father passing Terry. He was always a very entertaining man when we were growing up. My fondest memories of him was anytime he pulled out his accordion and started playing and singing around the house!
