Alexandria Heatherly Obituary

Alexandria McNabb Heatherly Summerville - Alexandria (Allie) Sianna Heatherly was born September 16th, 2006 in Pocatello, ID to Amanda McNabb and Wesley Heatherly. In 2011 she moved to Charleston, SC. She passed away in Denver, CO September 10th, 2016 after a 5 year battle with cancer. Allie enjoyed life and touched the lives of many others in her almost 10 years. She completed 4th grade, participated in 4-H and her church choir. Over her many stays at the Ronald McDonald House in Manhattan, she had the privilege of meeting and singing with American Idol contestants as well as meeting Miss America, Macy's Santa Claus and others who performed for and with the kids. She loved animals, art, math, music, and flowing, shimmery dresses. She enjoyed making videos and sharing pictures on Facebook through the foundation named in her honor: Allie's Friends Foundation. A posting saying she wanted "lots of people praying" for her reached over 10 million people. The response gave her comfort and encouragement. Allie wanted her story known, and she was present the day it was read into the South Carolina State legislature as a plea to allow access to medical marijuana in the state. Her family moved to Colorado to have access to the treatment that might save her life. The treatment successfully eliminated nausea and pain, but Allie succumbed before completing the full course of treatment. Over the past five years, Allie had been given the best that conventional medicine had to offer, along with alternative, and investigational therapies. When treatment options at home were limited, she traveled to where she could receive appropriate care. Her travels took her all over North America, including MUSC in Charleston, Children's Hospital in Denver, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, and CHIPSA in Tijuana Mexico. Allie is survived by her parents, her sisters, Samantha and Tessa Evangeline, and her brother Joshua; grandparents Gerald and Millie McNabb, Kathy Heatherly, Tom and Billie Jean Heatherly; uncle Tommy Heatherly; aunts Jessica Heatherly, Heather (Garin) Evans, Margaret (Chris) Schnitzler, Sarah (Justin) Merrill; and cousins Pippin, Rowan, Benedict, and Edmund Evans, Arwen, James, Frederick, and Maximilian Schnitzler. Funeral services will be held Saturday 24th, 2016 at 1pm Eastern Time at the North Trident Baptist Church, 9939 Jamison Rd., Ladson, SC. The service will be streamed live at the First Baptist Church, 408 N. Arthur, Pocatello, ID at 11am Mountain Time. Family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to the service at both churches (SC and ID). Interment will be in the Dorchester Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Allie's Friends Foundation; PO Box 411; Summerville, SC 29484. Continuously praying for Amanda, Wes and the kids. Allie, I didn't know you well personally but enjoyed seeing you at 4-H and the time I babysat for you and your siblings. That was the first, and only, time I got to chat with you. You were so polite, funny and intelligent. I feel blessed for that small amount of time I spent with you.
