Alexander Shute Obituary

Alexander Blakeney Shute "Alex" ROSWELL, GA - Alexander ("Alex") Blakeney Shute, 25, son of Eric J. and Linda Cable Shute, and brother of Preston Maxwell Shute of Roswell, GA, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 in Roswell, GA. He is also survived by maternal grandparents Leonard Clay Cable, Sr. and Martha Dobbins Cable of Isle of Palms, SC and uncle Leonard Clay Cable, Jr., of Decatur, AL. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Marion S. and Estelle S. Shute, of Kannapolis, NC. Alex was born May 25, 1984 in Charlotte, NC. He lived in Rock Hill, SC, Lakeland, FL, Pembroke Pines, FL, Valdosta, GA, before settling in Roswell with his family. A 2002 graduate of Lassiter High School, he went on to study stone sculpture at the University of Georgia in Athens. He was a Cortona Scholar in Italy and was also a Hope Scholar during his entire tenure at UGA. Alex served as a sound engineer and janitor at Athens United Methodist Church, where he greatly enjoyed having deep theological discussions with the pastor. Serving as an intern for Mark Maxwell of Maxwell Sound, Alex developed great skill composing jazz piano and guitar improvisation. Following his studies at UGA, he went on to study abstract painting at Auburn University, where he was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and Delta Epsilon Iota, both academic honor societies. Alex had a wonderful playful outlook on life and had an intense drive to excel in all of his work. Possessing a bold faith, he never shied away from sharing his joy in Christ. Relatives and friends of Alex are invited to attend his funeral service on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m., located at 2922 Sandy Plains Rd., Marietta, GA. The family will receive condolences immediately after the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorial donations may be made at www.epilepsyfoundation.org. Dear Linda,
Please know how saddened all of your Queens friends are, after hearing of the loss of your precious Alex. We all love you very much, and we have you in our hearts and prayers. I know what a terribly difficult time this must be for you and Eric and Preston. I ALSO know that your Great Faith and your wonderful memories of Alex, will help sustain now--and in the future.
