Alexander Chapman Obituary

Alexander Gregorie Chapman CHARLESTON - Alexander Gregorie Chapman of Charleston died Wednesday March 29th after his battle with cancer. Alex was born May 2, 1947 in Paris, France to William McKissack Chapman and Ann Mangum Chapman of Charleston. Alex attended the College of Charleston where he made lasting friendships. He was a pioneer in the field of holistic healing and massage therapy. As a follower of the spiritual teachings of the Emissaries of Divine Light, he embraced the philosophy that human beings are divine by nature. He spread messages of comfort that embodied love, light and peace. He volunteered at Trident Hospital and was a practitioner of therapeutic touch. Alex was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Benjamin Chapman; and sister, Ellen Reilly. He is survived by brothers John and William Chapman; children Eliza Chapman Bailey and her husband Ralph, Christian Chapman and his wife Claire, and Rebekah Chapman and her husband Brian Kimmel; grandchildren Grace, Ralph III, Chloe, Amelia, and Joshua; nieces Katharine, Ann, Jane and nephew Tony. The family will be receiving visitors from 6:00-7:30pm, Friday March 31st at the home of Eliza and Ralph Bailey, 107 Annie Circle, Summerville. Information on a memorial service will be forthcoming.
