We wish to expess our deepest and most heartfelt sympathy to your entire family. I met Ms. Bertha through my brother the Late Isaac "Ike" Button. He brought me their to taste her delicious soul food many years ago. It has truly been a journey for all of us. I went and got a picture enlarged of "Ike"the other day afer he hs been gone home to be with the Lord nine years ago and started crying. So I say to you just hold on to each other and cherish all the memories that you have of Ms. Berthaand she will always be in your mind, heart and soul. God is not going to give you more than you can bear. Do not lean on your own understanding but lean on Jesus, who will give yu strength and can do all things but fail. We share in your loss because we have been where you are today. First the Lord took my mother when I was seven then my fatherthen my oldest sister, Louise and then "IKe." The Battle Is Not Yours, Its The Lords," He does not make any mistakes. We love you very much.

Bobby, Sharon, Dave, Linda, Julie and Quintin. There are not enough words that I can say or anything that I can do to mend your broken hearts but I do know when death robs you of such a precious gem as your mother, there's one thing that death can never take and that is the beautiful memories of how your sweet mother was and the many lives that she had changed on her journey to Heaven. God words say, "blessed are they that mourn for you will be comforted. Believe GOD'S TRUE WORD when He say's that there is a home made in the Heavens and this home is not made by mans hand but an eternal home that our God has established and there your mother is.Keep trusting God and He will bring you through.

I was lucky enough to have been a Bertha's customer several years ago while working nearby. The girls at work always told me to pick up lunch at Bertha's, and let me tell you, I was always glad I did! I remember being a block down, and the smell alone would bring you in! That was the best southern cooking in Charleston, served by such loving women, who obviously loved what they did! Please take care of Bertha's legacy...she tought you well! She will be missed.

April 27, 2007

At this time of mourning I would like to say that She will never be forgotten but surely missed. Know that God and he alone can ease your pain. Draw nigh unto him and he will to you. You will see her again with that big smile and loving heart. She was like a mother to all who knew her. So we too mourn her death. Keep god first and all will fall into place. Much Love to the family.
