Fr. Hatch was a huge influence on me when I was growing up in Marietta, Ga. Fr. Hatch....as everyone referred to him in those days....came into the lives of the parishioners of St. James Episcopal Church in his mid-30's. I am sorry to hear of his passing.

Anne and family.. Billy and I had the fondest memories of The Hatch family! Billy's relationship going back to childhood in Augusta. I first met Nancy and the rest of the family in 1986 at Edisto...Jack built our house at 2809 Palmetto Blvd. Billy was very glad to have one last visit in April 2014 after his brain tumor diagnosis. The best of times spent with dear friends in a very special place. My heart goes out to you all in this time of grief and loss of a man who was a joy to know.

Thanking God for Bert's priestly ministry that touched so many.
May Christ give you rest in the land of the living
and open for you the gates of paradise;
may he receive you as a citizen of the Kingdom,
for you were his friend. Amen.

Dear Mrs. Hatch,
We are so sorry to hear of Bert's passing, an almost 100-year friendship between three generations of the Hatch and the Philpot families that began in Augusta in the 1920's with my grandmother Mae Philpot and Nancy. Bert and Billy continued that friendship at Edisto and my brother Trip, and I were always excited to play with all of the Hatches when we were young children at Edisto in the 1960's and 70's.
We have so many memories of great times at Edisto, and all of the Hatches, over the years.
May God Bless you in your time of bereavement.

Bert Hatch brought so much energy, sunshine, and good will to St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Dalton, Ga.. One of our favorite Ministers and a blessing to us and to Ted's Mom and Dad when we were at St. Mark's. His positive attitude and ministerial talents helped make St. Mark's a better Church, its congregation more responsive, and our lives richer. We will never forget him.

Dear Anne,
Warm condolences in the loss of Bert Hatch, such a great and wonderful part of so many lives in our region. We will never forget the years he spent as 'summer vicar' at Church of the Resurrection in Little Switzerland, NC, and the nice times we had with the two of you in the mountains, and as your guests in Edisto Island, with the two of you! Thank you again for your love, kindness, and hospitality in your beloved Edisto Island!
Bert's leadership and guidance will always be remembered as we were greatly touched by both of you.
Sincerely,
Doug and Nena Rowell

Dear Anne and family,
My sincere condolences on the death of Bert. He was a wonderful priest, a loving husband, and a great friend. My late husband Jim and I met Bert and Ebby when we first cme to Edisto Beach in 1990. David, Bert's son, built our house there. When Jim died in 2013, Bert came to Grace Church for the funeral and delivered the eulogy. I will miss him very much. May God bless you and sustain you all at this time.
Love, Lisa K. Barclay, Charleston, SC
