I worked with Dr. Aiken's daughter, Ruth, several years ago and one summer my little girl Jennifer, was invited for a visit. That visit will always be cherished in my heart. We had such a wonderful time. The Aiken family is one of the most loving families I have had the pleasure of knowing. Dr. Aiken took us to dinner one night and told little Jennifer that she could have anything on the menu. Of course she asked for chocolate mousse for dessert. Dr. Aiken just sat there and smiled as he watched her enjoy that! She had never had it before but she sure did love it. I am so sorry for the family and will continue to pray for strength and healing.

When I was a teenager Dr. & Mrs. Aiken worked with the youth at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church. I also babysat for them some. The Aikens were excellent role models for me. I appreciate the guidance and kindness that was given to me by them during my teenage years.

Dear Mrs. Aiken
Al came into my life in 1972 at a time when I thought my life was at an end. Here I am at 80 years old living in Central, SC in relative good health. Thank you that your husband was in my life until he turned his practice over to Dr. Dukes.
Sincerely,
Ida C Smith

Teri and I have fond memories of Al Aiken. We first came to know "Al" at Heritage Presbyterian Church and then as a neighbor in Hobcaw. Al went out of his way to become our friend at Heritage making us feel welcome and a part of that community. I particularly enjoyed sharing "sea stories" with him about his Navy service and about my Coast Guard service. He was very proud of that time and service in his life and we shared a common bond. We will miss Al both in our church community and in our neighborhood. We also wish to extend our condolences to Mary Ruth and the family during this difficult time. We know Albert's larger than life presence will be with you now and forever and we will miss him as well.
Sincerely, Jim and Teri Ingham

So sorry to hear of Dr Aiken's passing. I am so grateful for my time with the Aiken family, from grade school through high school. It is rare that week goes by that I don't think about one of my most cherished friends, Hugh. Dr Aiken was an inspiration, mentor and facilitator in my professional career, for which I will be eternally thankful.

Dr Aiken and my father (both Eagle Scouts) teamed up in the mid 1970s to resurrect Boy Scout Troop 20 at the Mt Pleasant Presbyterian Church, and he stayed an active contributor to the Troop until just a few years ago. His tenure in Troop 20 not only provided the foundation for 128 Scouts to earn their Eagle rank, but also taught hundreds more young men the value of servant leadership. As the current Scoutmaster of Troop 20, I have the privilege to pass along what he has taught me to others.
