My wife and I were truly saddened to hear about the passing of your mother. When I was a kid, I spent more time at her house than I did at my own. Even though she had her hands full with her own kids, she always had something nice to say to me. She always made me feel welcome and that she was interested in what I was up to. She was like a second mother to me. Those kindness she displayed to me, that nappy headed, skinny, black boy from Nunan St helped make me believe in myself. And she treated all of the neighborhood kids that way! I will always remember her for those kind and encouraging deeds and for the great pot of lima beans she used to make.

To all of her children, I wish I could be there, but our thoughts and prayers are with you.
