Adelaide Middaugh Obituary

MIDDAUGH, Adelaide Adelaide Hand Middaugh, the daughter of the late William H. Hand and Laura Bofill Hand, was born May 30, 1921, in Charleston. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert Charles Middaugh and their dog, Whiskey. A life long resident of Charleston, she attended the College of Charleston. Mrs. Middaugh was active in Charleston organizations, including serving as a volunteer with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and Roper Hospital. She was a faithful member of Grace Episcopal Church, where she served on many committees and supported many church efforts and causes. She is survived by her extended family, David Hart Crum, Mrs. Henry Hayne (Mary Bass) Crum, Mary Elizabeth Crum (James Harold Byrum, Jr.), John Wesley Crum, III (Eleanor Rainey), Henry Hayne Crum, III, Samuel Pancoast Hunt, III (Cynthia Boice), Jennifer Crum Hunt, and Henry Thomas Hunt (Janet Berney), their children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Grace Episcopal Church on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 232 Calhoun St., Charleston, SC from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday, April 3, 2009. Memorials may be made to the Grace Episcopal Church's Saving Grace Building Fund. The family wishes to thank Bishop Gadsden and its staff. The family also particularly wants to thank Mrs. Middaugh's friend, Mrs. Paul (Dot) Gelegotis. Ms Middaugh was one of my favorite patietnts of all time! She was so bright, funnny and ebullient. She lit up the office whenever she came and we missed her in the last few years
