Beatrice Coakley Obituary

She was love wrapped in firmness, a gentle voice with a steady hand, a mother who knew that tenderness and discipline could live in the same heart. When we stepped out of line, she reached for "Brown Sugar," not out of cruelty, but out of care, a reminder that guidance sometimes comes with correction, and love sometimes speaks loud. Her house was a gathering place, where family was never a visitor but always at home. Laughter filled the rooms, stories sat at the table, and no one left hungry, not in body, not in soul. With patient hands, she wove sweetgrass into baskets, threading history through every strand, braiding tradition with pride, turning simple grass into beauty, purpose, and legacy.

On Wednesday February 11, 2026; God in His infinite wisdom, called daughter Ms. Beatrice Coakley, 70, of Charleston, South Carolina from labor to reward.

Celebration of Life for Ms. Coakley will be on Friday February 20, 2026 at 11 AM, Suburban Funeral Home Chapel.

There will be NO viewing on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens Mt. Pleasant, SC

The most precious memories of Ms. Coakley will resound in the life of her beloved Children; Kimberly Coakley, Kendrick Coakley, Teraine Gaines, Deidra Coakley, D'Angelo Coakley, Tyree Williams and Yolanda Gaines. Thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her siblings; Wilhelmina Coakley, McConnell Coakley , Althea White and Samuel Coakley. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and Friends.
