Wm. Napier Obituary

Wm. Sammie Napier
GRANITEVILLE - Mr. William "Sammie" Napier, age 82, beloved husband to Mrs. Glenda Kneece Napier, went home to be with the Lord on Friday evening September 30, 2022 at his home.
In addition to his wife Glenda, he is survived by a special niece and nephew, Debra (Glenn) Logue and Doug (Ann) Rains, and a host of many other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Floyd Harris and sister-in-law, Mildred Napier.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Bernice Barfield Napier; brother, Leroy "Roy" Napier; and sisters, Gloria Gunter and Dorothy Harrington.
Mr. Sammie and his wife Glenda were the owners of Napier Funeral Home in Graniteville, SC where he started working as a young man and continued to work for 63 years. Collecting on the Posey Furniture Store route is where it all began. Over the years he had the opportunity to work for the Posey's Ambulance Service and the funeral home, but on the furniture route is where he met the love of his life, Glenda Napier. Married for over 5 decades, they worked full time together since 1997. Over the years he had the privilege of being a part of many different organizations in the community. Serving as the President of the Graniteville Gregg Foundation; President of the Historic Graniteville Cemetery Association; a scholarship sponsor for the University of South Carolina Aiken Campus; and was a member of the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association and National Funeral Directors Association. He was a humble man who loved the Lord and served him faithfully for many years. He will be deeply missed by his family, staff and friends, but we know that to be absent from this earthly body is to be present with the Lord.
A funeral service honoring his life and legacy will be held on Tuesday October 4, 2022 at 3pm at the Langley Church of God in Graniteville with Pastor Edward Hardee officiating. The interment will immediately follow at the Historic Graniteville Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the Langley Church of God.
Pallbearers will be: Doug Rains, Glenn Miller, Donnie Turner, Keith Polk, Donnie Waters and Richard (Lisa) Chambers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: All funeral directors and members of the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Graniteville Gregg Foundation at: PO Box 418 Graniteville, SC 29829 Attention Diana Silas.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers of Hands of Life Homecare for there excellent service, and to two special nieces for there help during this most difficult time; Margaret Turner and Julie Polk.
