Send FlowersWith deepest and heartfelt sympathy, G. L. Brightharp & Sons announces the transition of Ms. Willie L. Mingle who entered into rest April 17, 2026.
Willie Lee Mingle was born March 27, 1946 to the late Matthew Mingle and late Annie Lee Daughtry in Screven County Georgia. She was raised along with her sister Eula Mingle Godbee by their late Aunt, Rosa Lee Clark Green in North Augusta, South Carolina.
Willie Lee Mingle attended Jefferson High School Bath, South Carolina. She later moved to Norwalk Connecticut, where she graduated high school in 1965. Willie became employed in Connecticut as a caretaker and domestic worker in the homes of wealthy Jewish clients and also in manufacturing.
Willie later relocated back to North Augusta, South Carolina, and loved to work with her hands and was employed at a manufacturing plant and retired from the Aiken County School District in Food Nutrition & Preparation Services.
She was Baptized at an early age at The Historic Thankful Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as an Usher for 70 plus years until her health began to decline.
Willie was dedicated and loved her family, she enjoyed reading her Bible and crossword puzzles…she had a quiet loving Spirit of strength and resilience.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving daughter, Stephanie Henry Boyd (James); four grandchildren, Makayla Cummings, Matthew Mealing, Jamie Boyd, and Travis Boyd; a loving Step Mother, Mora Lee Mingle; sisters, Eula Lee Mingle Godbee, Janice Mingle, Sylvia (Johnny) Graham, Deidre Knox, Emma Williams, Addie Mingle, Ella Mingle, Ruthie Robbins (Uley), Ethel Daughtry Parker, Denise Simmons (Terry); brothers, Johnny Mingle (Margaret), Jalane Jackson (Trudie), George Jackson, Clinton Daughtry (Lavern), Curtis Daughtry (Meann), Ezekiel Daughtry (Renia), Richard Daughtry, Jeff Daughtry (Trell); a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends .
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 25, 2026 at The Historic Thankful Baptist Church where the Rev. Dr. Jamyle J. D. Searcy, Sr. is the pastor and the Rev. Ellis A. Godbee, Jr. eulogist. Interment will follow in The Historic Spirit Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:30 PM Friday at the funeral home.
