William J. Souza "Bill" passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2015. He was born on January 14, 1939 in Boston, MA to Helen and William E. Souza.
Bill moved to Los Angeles, CA with his parents and brothers in 1954. He moved to Ventura County in 1979 where he lived for the past 35 years. He loved the outdoors.
As a young man, he and his best friend Frank ran "Kamp Kaden" in the San Bernardino Mountains for several years. Bill also had a love for antique furniture, classic cars and had a passion for reading - he loved books! Bill was a dedicated father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was a longtime friend of Bill W. He was proud to be part of the Souza family and was always delighted when an occasion would come up to spend time together - especially the traditional annual Souza Family Christmas party. Bill always had a positive outlook on life, even when times were tough, he stayed positive. His frequent reply when asked how he was doing would be "I'm blessed."
He is survived by his sons Andrew Souza of Moorpark, CA, Matthew Souza of West Hills, CA, and Lucas Souza of Ventura CA; step-children Lindsay Sims of Gilbert, AZ, and Cullen Crabbe of Camarillo, CA; his grandchildren, Joshua Souza of Calabasas, CA , Amanda Souza of Moorpark, CA, and Adam Souza of Moorpark, CA; his brothers, Thomas Souza of Chatsworth, CA, Robert Souza of Tehachapi, CA and Christopher Souza of Glendale, CA. H
e is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Souza and father, William E. Souza.

To the entire Souza family, my most sincere condolences for your lost. Bill and I worked together for many years in Oxnard. We built a relationship that was based on trust and a lot of love and respect for each other. Bill loved the beach and we would do our walks at Silverstrand every chance we got. Bill, you brought so much happiness into my life and I know I did the same. We always had so much fun together and were always going to our favorite restaurants. I remember when you first introduce me to Andy and Matt, you were so very proud of your sons. I know that we had not seen each other for quite a few years, but you were and always be in my heart forever.
Rest in peace my dear and remember I will always be with you. I thought of you often and the very special times we shared together.

I was honored to be part of Bill's life when I married his son Matthew in 1988. He quickly embraced me as his daughter and always made me feel special. I will forever remember our times out going to thrift stores searching for antiques or little treasues, our long conversations on life and his wonderful stories of the past along with his warped sense of humor we shared. I loved him and I will miss him. Thank you for being a part of my life Bill, give grandma and grandpa a hug for me. xoxoxo

Missing you Uncle Bill, loved how you always told it how it really was!!!! Also, great to have a fellow lover of reading in the family- to know where I got it from! Also, the propensity to leave early from a party- got that from you too! Love you and miss you dearly!

My Uncle Bill was a great guy and will be missed by all in our family. As the oldest brother in the family and big brother to my Dad, there were so many great stories. He was such a great son to my Grandmother and a great Brother to my Dad. Always providing advice, love and just a sympathetic ear. I will miss you my dear Uncle and especially your presence, your wit,and your matter of fact philosophy about life. I will also miss your out of this world meatballs at Christmas. May you rest in everlasting peace. Your loving niece, Kari

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of my dear friend Bill. I am convinced that God sent him as a wonderful gift to accompany me through one of the most difficult times of my life. I was indeed blessed to have "Suzie" (Bill) in my life. God Speed my friend. I will miss you
