Bill was a US Army veteran where he served with the Army Security Agency attached to the XVIII Airborne Corps with postings at Fort Huachuca, AZ and Fort Hood, TX. He was a graduate of Dreher High School, 1956 and the University of S.C. from which he received a bachelor of arts. After brief residency in Chicago and Atlanta, he and Jackie resided in the lovely community of North Augusta, S.C. for forty-two years where they were members of First Baptist Church. In 2007, they moved to Lexington, S.C. to be near family. Bill then worked part time for ten years with Dunbar Funeral Home which was the highlight of his working career.
Bill and Jackie enjoyed traveling to the fifty states, nine Canadian provinces and abroad. Their most adventurous trip was to Point Barrow, Alaska and Beaver Creek, Yukon.
Bill enjoyed listening to the Spectrum music choice channels especially 1919, 1941 and 1948.
He was a previous thirty-four year member of the USC Gamecock Club and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Col. Thomas Taylor Chapter.
As a loyal USC alum and fan, Bill enjoyed attending Gamecock games and other exciting sporting events including the Daytona 500, Indy 500, the Masters and the Braves.
Bill was the husband of Jacquelyn "Jackie" Hollis McInnis; father of William Alton "Scotty" McInnis, III (Cindy) and Amy Elizabeth McInnis; Granddaddy of Susannah McInnis McDowell (Ty), Hollis Baroody, Sara McInnis, William McInnis and Charlie Mac McInnis; brother of Warren "Pinky" McInnis Hughes (Bill); and a friend to many including brothers Gene and John Klugh, and Jimmy Ellisor.

For:
"Pinky" especially
I am so sorry for your loss of your brother. I somehow had had you on my mind the last week and then saw Bill´s obituary in The State. My sympathy is certainly with you and your family. I attended our 60th Dreher reunion last fall but couldn´t stay long and don´t remember seeing you. Much love and hope for your health and happiness. I have pleasant thoughts of our high school years together.
