William Hunter McCullough
AIKEN, SC - William Hunter McCullough died Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, a sister, Ann Floyd, Murrell's Inlet, SC, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Alice and Sam Britton, Newport News, VA, three nephews, Clark Floyd, Savannah, GA, Mark Matney, Williamsburg, VA, Michael Matney, Ashburn, VA and a niece, Virginia Norris, Greenville, SC. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harriett Hunter and William Thomas McCullough.
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, spent his childhood in Glencoe, IL and his high school and college years in Scarsdale, NY. He graduated from Lehigh University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration from New York University.
After college, he served proudly as an officer in the United States Marine Corps.
He was a Certified Financial Planner. He had a forty year career in financial services, beginning with Merrill Lynch in New York City and retiring from Smith Barney in Charleston, SC.
He was a resident of Kiawah Island for many years before moving to Aiken in 2007.
Bill will be remembered by his family as a successful man with a very curious mind. He had a positive attitude about life and lived his life to the fullest.
A memorial service will be held Friday morning, March 24th at 11:00 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home with The Rev. Dr. Laurence McCullough officiating. A reception will follow the service at The Reserve Club at Woodside Plantation, 300 Reserve Club Drive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, 224 Barnwell Ave., NW, Aiken, SC 29801.

Bill was my boss in the '70s when he managed the Charleston Office for Robinson Humphrey. He was a great mentor and always took time to help. He was always the last to leave the office. He was a wonderful person. My thoughts and prayers our with his family especially his great wife Betty.
