William Lotspeich Obituary
North Augusta, SC- Funeral Services for William "Billy" R. Lotspeich, 97, who entered into rest August 26, 2025, will be conducted Tuesday morning, September 2nd, at 11 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ashley Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens with Veteran Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening, September 1st, from 5 until 7 o'clock. William was born April 2, 1928, in Dalton, Georgia to the late Paul Lacewell and Melva Louise Casey Lotspeich. They later moved to Fernandina Beach, FL where he graduated high school in 1946. He worked at Rayonier Paper Company until he joined the Navy in 1951. During his time in the Navy, he traveled between San Deigo, CA and Japan, served in the Korean Conflict, and worked on moving transportation vehicles LST 914 division. After his Navy service, William returned to Rayonier Paper Company and later to Gillman Paper in St. Mary's, Georgia. William came to Augusta, Georgia in 1960 to work for Continental Can Company until 1993 and then went to Federal Paper where he retired after 33 years. In his retirement years, William enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, bowling, and traveling; especially cruising, where he was a fanatic about the food they served. He enjoyed listening to country music and Gaither's. William was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Masonic Acacia Lodge. He will be remembered for his quick-witted spirit and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Julia Stoval and Genearle Hughes. Surviving members of the family include his wife of 56 and half years, Sue Morgan Lotspeich; sons, William David (Barb) Lotspeich and Paul R. (Lisa) Lotspeich; a daughter, Michelle Lotspeich Prince; six grandchildren, Bianca (Lucas) Jenkins, Mareena Romanello, M. Derek Lotspeich, Lacie Lotspeich, Gene Lotspeich and Casey Prince; eight great-grandchildren, Austin Lotspeich, Haley Lostpeich, Derek Lotspeich, Jr., Bryce (Kirbi) Romanello, Ryden Romanello, Aubree Lotspeich, Abbey Lotspeich and Chole Pittman; a great-great-grandchild, Weston Creed and a brother, Lacewell Lotspeich. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Cokesbury Sunday Class and Terrell Kearse.
