Wanda Johnson Obituary
NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Wanda Johnson (ne;e Jarkiewicz), age 93, recently of Naperville, IL and prior long time resident of Aiken, SC, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018. She was born November 18, 1924 in Saint-Privat-la-Montagne, France.
Beloved wife of the late Victor E. Johnson, whom she married June 14, 1947 and who preceded her in death on February 5, 2008, loving mother of Robert S. (Kate Loritz) Johnson of Naperville, Mark A. (Melinda) Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO and the late Monique M. (Peter M.) Wilkin, adored grandmother of Julia (Anthony) Hernandez and Michael Johnson (Meagan Gilliland-Johnson); Adrienne and Hillary Johnson; Peter (Tiffany) Wilkin, Jr. and Matthew Wilkin, cherished great-grandmother of Elise DeMarse and Anthony Hernandez, Jr.; Charles Johnson and Peter Wilkin III, devoted daughter of the late Michael and Helene Jarkiewicz, dear sister of the late Stephanie and Lottie, fond aunt and friend to many.
Wanda was a remarkable woman with a fascinating history. She will be missed by her family and all that knew her.
Wanda Jarkiewicz was born in France and spent her childhood in St Marie-aux-Chene. She met Vic in the closing months of World War II, and traveled to Indiana to marry him in 1947. They raised the family as they moved around the Midwest and East Coast for his work. Upon retirement in 1981 they spent many happy years traveling and living in various locations, ending up in Aiken, SC, near their daughter Monique. Vic passed in 2008 and with Monique's untimely passing earlier this year Wanda moved up to Naperville, IL near Robert.
Services and interment are private.
