AIKEN - Mr. Wallace Broward Sumner, age 90, beloved husband for 68 years to Mrs. Carmen Gary Sumner, entered into rest on Wednesday July 16, 2025. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Lawrence) O'Brien, Brenda (Tim) Davidson; grandchildren, Amber Davidson and Robert O'Brien; sister Valarie Tucker, sister-in-law Bennis Sumner and nephew Mike Sumner. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Verdi Sumner; and brother Frank Sumner. Mr. Sumner worked as a Nuclear Engineer for Savannah River Site before his retirement. He was also a long time member of Calvary Chapel Aiken in Aiken, South Carolina where in years past he served as an Elder, sang on the worship team, led a house church group, led a men's ministry and served in the church prison ministry. He also served as a volunteer for the former Aiken County Sheriff's Posse. Mr. Sumner loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and hiking in the mountains. He enjoyed his music as well. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. In accordance to his wishes no formal service will be arranged at this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Sumner to Trinity On Laurens at 213 Laurens Street NW. Aiken, SC 29801 or to Calvary Chapel Aiken at 1411 East Pine Log Road. Aiken, SC 29803. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory of Graniteville, SC has been entrusted with these arrangements.
