McCarthy, Jr.
AUGUSTA, GA - Entered into rest Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Amara Heathcare under the care of CareSouth Hospice, Augusta, GA, Mr. Vydell "J R" McCarthy, Jr. age 75, son of the late Mr. Vydell P. McCarthy, Sr. and the late Mrs. Benola Hammett McCarthy.
A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Crawford Avenue Baptist Church, Augusta, GA with Rev. Bryan LaFavre officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. McCarthy was a native of West Palm Beach, Florida and had made the Augusta, GA, and Aiken SC area his home for most of his life. He was the former Owner and Operator of Hite's Florist for many years when it was located on Chesterfield Street then moved to Park Ave. in Aiken, SC. Mr. McCarthy started in the floral business at Bush Florist in North Augusta, SC at the age of 15. He was a member of the Crawford Avenue Baptist Church, Augusta, GA.
Survivors include his wife, Jerry Clark McCarthy, Augusta, GA; one son, Jeff (Mary) McCarthy, Valdosta, GA; one daughter, Teresa (Joe) Jagars, Indiana; two stepsons, Steven W. Carter, Jr., Pennsylvania, Monica (Chuck) Odom, North Augusta, Michael (Kathy) Clark, Maryville, TN; two brothers, Albert S. "Butch" (Hazel) McCarthy, Augusta, GA, Bobby (Lisa) McCarthy, Augusta, GA; two sisters, Betty Jean Wilson, Graniteville, Virginia (Kelsey) Bullock, Trenton, NC; six grandchildren, Katherine (Michael) Clark, Jeff (Meagan), McCarthy, Jr., Jessica (James) Warren, Ryan Jagers, Lauren Odom, Trey Odom, and ten great-grandchildren, Colton, Kendall,
Abigail Clark, KateLynn, Kelsee, Kennedy, Karaline Warren, Gavin McCarty, Heidi and Daphne Jagars.
The Family would like to thank AMARA Healthcare and Care South Hospice for their effort, care, and dedication.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Jagers, Evan Stout, Jeff McCarthy, Jr., James Warren, III, Charles Odom, and Kelsy Bullock.
Flowers: 10:00 am Tuesday, January 27, 2015, afterwards deliver flowers to Crawford Avenue Baptist Church.
