Virginia Taylor
MACON, GA - Virginia Reynolds Taylor died July 24, 2023. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Aiken, SC at a later date.
Mrs. Taylor was born March 24, 1920 and raised in Bluefield, WV, the daughter of Landon T. and Emmaline Peirce Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-nine years, Frank E. Taylor, sister Helen T. Scott and her daughter-in-law Linda Prince Taylor and son-in-law Reverend Joel Keys. She is survived by her three children, Frank E. (Bonnie) Taylor, Jr. of Fairview. TX, Helen T. (Glen) Johnson of Macon and Mary Beth T. Keys of Memphis, TN, nephew Thomas (Joanice) Scott of Buena Vista, VA, and seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Before his passing, Joel Keys said about his mother-in-law, "Your long life is quite an achievement. Yes, genetics has something to do with it, but who you are, how your heart regards other people and God added life-giving energy to you, too. For your grace, good humor, your acceptance of others, your artistic gifts and talents, your patience with those around you, your inner and outer beauty, I thank God, and I thank you for letting God use you for 103 years."
After completing public schools of Bluefield, she attended Sullins College in Bristol, VA where both of her grandmothers had also attended.
Mrs. Taylor was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Aiken and a member of the Henry Middleton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Aiken, SC. She was a former member of the Aiken Artist Guild, the Wildwood Garden Club and the Houndslake Country Club of Aiken.
Her hobbies were tennis, painting, bridge and home interior decorating, as well as extensive flower arranging for various social events.
She wished for a long happy life to her grandchildren: Charles and Jennifer Taylor; Holly, Allison and Paul Johnson; Caroline and Leah Keys. And to each of her great grandchildren: Landon, Drew, Grace, Tillman, Lyndi, Alyssa, Savannah,, Anthony, Lance, Hunter.and Emmaline .
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church of Aiken or to one's favorite charity.
