AIKEN - Ms. Virginia Snipes Gunter, age 85, of Aiken, S.C., wife of the late Floyd D. "Top" Gunter and daughter of the late Stonewall J. Snipes and the late Adele Sanford Snipes, entered into eternal rest at her daughter's residence on Monday, July 2, 2018. She is survived by her daughters, Janet (Donnie) Lybrand of Aiken, S.C. and Betty Jones of Climax, N. C.; a son, David (Kathleen) Gunter of Summerville, S.C.; brothers, Jack (Janis) Snipes, Bernie (Bettye) Snipes and Bruce Snipes all of Aiken, S.C.; grandchildren, Jeremy Widener, Stacy (Allen) Russell and Sarah (Chris) Reynolds; great grandchildren, Tristan Russell, Brantley Russell, Charlee Ann Russell and Hunter Reynolds. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ginger Henderson; a sister, Libby Bentley and a brother, Gene Snipes. She was born in and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. She was a dedicated member of Redds Branch Baptist Church in Aiken. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, with all of her heart, and they in turn loved her. She was a very special Christian lady with a deep compassion for her fellowman. A lady of her caliber shall be greatly missed by her family and all whose lives she touched during the 85 years that God granted her on this earth. Death is not the end, as she shall live on forever in the hearts of her many friends and loved ones. A service, celebrating her life and homegoing, will be held at Redds Branch Baptist Church in Aiken, S.C. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Richard McWhite officiating. The interment will follow the service in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorials, in her honor, may be made to the Church at 390 Redds Branch Rd., Aiken, S.C. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Graniteville, S.C. 29829 is in charge of the arrangements.
