Virginia Gardner Obituary

Virginia James Gardner was born on August 29th, 1928 in Williamsburg County, SC to the late Mary Canty and Jim Moore. She was raised in Florence, SC by the late Wilson and Daisy James. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 20th, 2025. Virginia graduated from Wilson High School in 1947, where she was an active member of the basketball team and the Future Homemakers of America (FHA). Her participation in these activities reflected her dedication and lively personality. In 1953, she married Paul (PJ) Gardner, and to this union 3 children were born. They shared over 50 years of marriage during which Virginia's commitment to her family was evident in the warmth and love she shared with them. In 1957,Virginia started her career in food services with Aiken County Schools at Pinecrest Elementary where she had over 32 years of service before retiring in 1989. On April 30th, 1966 Virginia dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. For over 59 years, she served as a bold minister of God's word. Upon retiring, she began to serve as a regular pioneer for over 36 years and shared her faith with steadfast conviction and zeal. She did not hesitate to impart the good news of God's Kingdom with others. Known for her warm hospitality, Virginia welcomed countless guests into her home, offering not only spiritual encouragement but also her delicious southern cooking. With a heart that never knew a stranger, she found joy in entertaining and made sure no one left her home hungry. Her quick wit and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Virginia's presence was a source of laughter and story telling which made each moment around her a memorable one. For many years, she dedicated herself as a devoted homemaker for the Turno, Perico, Whitney and Towers families, alongside many others who held deep adoration for her.
