BELVEDERE, SC - Mr. Thomas Ellis "Tommy" Blackwood, III., 67, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016.
Born in and a resident of the CSRA most of his life, he was a son of Doris Wilkins Blackwood, Summerville, SC and the late Jake Blackwood.
A United States Marine, he honorably and proudly served three tours of duty in Vietnam before being honorably discharged on July 9th, 1971. He was the former owner of Blackwood Auto Electric. Tommy enjoyed fishing, reading and playing guitar.
In addition to his parents, family members include children, Aliceson Dale and her companion, JJ Allen Spence, Flora, IN, Thomas "Tom" Blackwood, IV. and his wife, Starr, Orlando, FL and April Jones and her husband, Shane, North Augusta, SC; siblings, Carolyn West and her husband, Buddy, Summerville, SC, the late Ronnie Blackwood and the late Joseph Blackwood; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday, August 31st, 2016, beginning at 9 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Graniteville, SC, followed by a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 10 o'clock in the chapel.
Inurnment with veteran's honors accorded by a United States Marine Corps Honor Guard will follow in the First Baptist Church of Beech Island Cemetery, Beech Island, SC.
The family has asked that flowers be omitted and memorials in memory of Tommy be made to Toys for Tots. (www.toysfortots.com)
