AIKEN, SC - Theresa (Terry) Irene Gossard, 63, beloved wife for 31 years of Stanley Mark Gossard, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at her residence in Aiken, SC where she had lived since 1996.
A native of Hudson WI, Terry was the second oldest of five children born November 16, 1951 to Arlene Bertling Blihovde and the late Argyle Blihovde. She was baptized in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cashton WI, and confirmed in Bethel Lutheran Church, Hudson WI. She graduated from Hudson High School.
Terry worked in sales, marketing, office administration, as a picture framer, and as the church pianist at Trinity United Methodist Church in Aiken. While working as the church pianist at Trinity she was instrumental in the fundraiser drive to replace the piano in the church sanctuary. In her spare time Terry liked to take on projects to help others. She would bake cookies for the Kyros Prison Ministry, make agape for both the Emmaus and Epiphany church retreats, and was an active participant in fundraising drives for the Aiken High School Band program. As her health declined and she became more bedbound Terry took up knitting and specialized in hats and blankets for premature babies as well as scarfs, lap robes, and pet blankets.
Terry is survived by her husband Stanley; her daughter Meegian Gossard, Atlanta, GA; her mother Arlene Blihovde, Mesa, AZ; two sisters, Rene Bishop, Mesa, AZ, and Phyllis John, Hammond, WI; her brother, David Blihovde, Hudson, WI; as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, Terry was preceded in death by her sister, Diane Schmid.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, March 13, 2015 from 6 until 8 o'clock at the Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home, 715 E Pine Log Rd, Aiken, SC.
A Celebration of Terry's Life will take place Saturday afternoon, March 14, 2015 at 3 o'clock at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2724 Whiskey Rd, Aiken SC, with the Revs. Dr. Larry Parker and Donnie Bates officiating.
The family would like to extend a special note of gratitude to the staff at Aiken Regional Medical Center and US Renal Care for the care, comfort, and concern they extended to Terry during her final months.
