WINDSOR - Funeral services for Steven Roger Smith 65, of Windsor, SC will be held two o'clock p.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2021 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend Tim Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, 590 Centerwood Rd., Windsor, SC 29856 with Masonic Rites accorded. The family will receive friend one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Spring Branch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 209, Windsor, SC 29856. Thank you to PCM and Regency Hospice Staff for the loving care they provided to Steven. Steven passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021.
Born in Aiken County, SC, he was a son of Alice Faye Bonnett Smith and the late Milton "Pete" Smith. He was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church, Hope Masonic Lodge # 126, and the Ackerman Chapter # 198 Order of the Eastern Star. He retired as a heavy equipment operator at SRS and previously worked at the SC Department of Transportation as a work release supervisor. He volunteered for the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department and worked for the Town of Perry Police Department. He enjoyed singing and playing his guitar.
In addition to his mother Alice Faye Smith, he is survived by his wife Diane Fennell Smith, sons William Smith of Irmo, David (Jessica) Smith, Sr. of Aiken; grandchildren Patyon Smith, Steven Smith Devore, David Smith, Jr., Lila Smith and Tessa Miller; a sister Cynthia S. Widener of Windsor; a brother Jackie (Judy) Smith of Windsor, maternal father and mother-in-law Henry and Patricia Porterfield and a number nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Connie S. Kinard, a brother Bobby Smith and his grandparents Roy and Eula Bonnett and Olin and Ruth Smith.
