Stephanie English Obituary

Stephanie English
AIKEN, SC - Our beloved daughter, niece, friend, and godmother, Stephanie, transitioned, September 23, 2014. She, the only child of the late John English and Mae Fair English, was born August 28, 1954 in Aiken South Carolina. As a toddler she moved with her parents and Aunt Rosa to New York. When her parents returned to South Carolina she was later raised by her Aunt Rosa Price Dandy.
Stephanie attended elementary school in Queens and graduated from Springfield Gardens High School. After graduating from Virginia State College, she returned to New York City and; worked at Queens General and Woodhull Hospitals in "Patient Acc-ounts". She moved up the ladder professionally to the central office of Health and Hospitals where she worked until she became ill.
Stephanie was a long time member of the Greater Allen Church and served on the Blood Bank and Parish Health Committees. She was a person who took joy in helping others and freely supported other clubs and committees in the church. She took her religious responsibility seriously, attending Bible Study and taking advantage of other opportunities to learn about Christianity. She traveled to the Holy Land to recount the steps of the prophets and to be baptized. She never boasted about her religion, but let her actions speak for her closeness to the Lord.
Travel was one of the many things Stephanie enjoyed. She visited almost all fifty states, countries in Africa, Asia, The Caribbean, and Europe. She took pleasure in helping others, especially the elderly. Her weekends almost always included shopping for someone or helping doing some kind of good deed for someone else. Reading was also a fond pass time for her. She belonged to an informal reading group called the Sistahs. She made the book discussions extra special with her homemade desserts.
During her debilitating illness, when asked, how she was doing her response was always, "I won't complain". She leaves behind to mourn her: a loving mother Mae English, her beloved Aunt Rosa Price Dandy, Aunt Julia English, Uncles Isaac English, Stephen English, Haskins English, her Godson Johnny Tee Deal, many cousins and her faithful care giver Don, and too many friends to list. Knowing Stephanie was experiencing a blessing.
