Shirley Battle Lloyd
Central Islip, NY - SHIRLEY BATTLE LLOYD, 85, widow of Milledge Lloyd, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in Central Islip, NY.
A native of Montmorenci, SC, Shirley was a daughter of the late P. J. and Ethel Andrews Battle. She was a caregiver and had lived most of her life on Long Island. She had an infectious laugh, quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Shirley was a former foster parent and cared for other children for 30 plus years. She was an avid gardener and loved beautiful flowers. She was a member of Old Zion Hill Baptist Church. She was a Deaconess for at least 30 years with New Convent Church of Christ in Queens New York, since the early 1960s.
Survivors include two daughters, Naomi Williams (Melvin), Central Islip, NY, Sandra Penn, Aiken; two sons, Milton Lloyd (Tomeko), New York, NY, Daniel Lloyd, Long Island, NY; a sister, Blanche Riley, Beech Island; a brother, Perry Battle (Bridgett), Ridge Spring; three grandchildren, Tyrae Williams, Tamia Wade, Kamiko Wade. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Maurice Lloyd and Robert Lloyd and a son-in-law, Michael Penn.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, June 16th from 5 until 7 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home
The funeral service will be Thursday afternoon, June 17th at 1 o'clock at the funeral home. The service will be livestreamed on the Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home Facebook page (https://fb.me/e/VUA4b2em). Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
