Shelvy Spence Obituary

North Augusta, SC – Funeral Services for Mrs. Shelvy Carol Spence, 77, who entered into rest August 11, 2025, will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel, Rev. Misaki Chiba officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Spence was born December 24, 1947, in Williamsburg County, SC to the late Belmont and Edith McConnell. Carol was an active and longtime member of Fairview Presbyterian Church. In addition to her love for the Lord, her main focus was her family; she was mama to not just her own three children but to most of their friends as well. Carol was also a lover of animals, especially her dogs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Doward McConnell. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Sam Spence, Jr.; two daughters, Melaine Bohi (William) and Tiffany McGee (Scott); son, Sammy Spence, III (Jennifer); three grandchildren, Ashleigh Prather, Kelli Prather and Lauren Myatt (Robert); two great-grandchildren, Kinleigh and Emma; sister, Geraldine Wheeler (Tippy); brother, Gary McConnell (Karen). Pallbearers will be Sammy Spence, III, Scott McGee, William Bohi, Robert Myatt, Chris Harmon and Tony Mariano.
