David Hatfield Obituary

David John Hatfield had the good fortune of growing up in the country on the family ranch surrounded by wildlife he would hunt and amongst the raising of crops and livestock. He attended grade school in Dixonville, Oregon and grades 7-12 at Glide Junior Hisch and Glide High School. After graduating from high school, David pulled green chain in the sawmill, set choker in the woods and attended welding class at Umpqua Community College. In 1971 he joined the National Guard, the local Carpenter Union as a Carpenter Apprentice and Married Deborah Hehn. In 1974, David began working on the family ranch with his wife and family raising crops and livestock, and continued working part-time at construction sites, logging, truck driving and operating machinery. He was very accomplished at whatever he set out to do but his preference was in the designing and building of equipment implements. David was a good family provider and had many good and faithful friends. In 2005, he suffered from a motorcycle accident leaving him disabled. Following his recovery from the accident he lived independently on the ranch. The last six and one-half years of his life he lived at Timber Town Living surrounded by compassionate staff who were very fond of him. He passed away peacefully with family by his side. Survivors include his children Lane Hatfield and Anne Marie (Hatfield) Parkhurst; siblings Barbara Hatfield Kappus and her twin Dan Hatfield; grandchildren Bryce Hatfield, Evelyn Parkhurst, Rylan Parkhurst and Meanella Hatfied; nieces and nephews Clint Hatfield, Kelsie (Hatfield) Barron and Brian Cappus. David was preceded in death by his parents Vera (Pinkerton) Hatfield and Waldon Hatfield and his brother Tom Hatfield. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 11:00 am at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses.
