Ruth Zeeb Obituary

Ruth Decker Zeeb July 28, 1931 - October 20, 2012 Resident of Pleasanton, CA Ruth Decker Zeeb passed away peacefully at her home in Pleasanton on October 20. Ruth enjoyed life to its fullest and travelled extensively with international trips throughout Europe as well as the south Pacific and her native Hawaii. She was an accomplished tap dancer and performed with the Pleasanton group "Jazz N Taps" for nearly 20 years at venues throughout the East Bay. Also, she played the ukulele and danced the hula for many years with the local group "Kalapani Strings". Her Sunday nights usually included Bingo with close friends. She was loved and admired by her three children - daughters Sharon Marsh (Carl) and Jeanne Cambra-Brungard (Jim) and son Ben Cambra (Amanda) - who were a great source of pride to her. Ruth was a loving supporter of the activities of her children and four grandchildren - Carrie Rodrigues, Michael Marsh, Jeff Cambra and Greg Cambra. This included attending various athletic events, graduations, and other family gatherings. She is survived by her brother Charles Benjamin Decker (wife Sharon) who resides in Concord, and friend and companion of the last eight years, Gerald Finne. Ruth was a long-time employee of the Pleasanton Police Department after starting her public service with the Livermore P.D. She served as a Dispatcher and built long-standing friendships with officers and staff. Later, she served as a volunteer for the Pleasanton P.D., California Highway Patrol, Pleasanton Senior Center and Amador Theater. She also was integrally involved in activities planning at the Vineyard Mobile Estates, where she resided for 36 years. Ruth was a resident of Pleasanton for 55 years after moving from the territory of Hawaii. She was born in Wailuku, Maui. She was preceded in death by Ernest P. Cambra, her husband of 27 years, and Walt Zeeb, to whom she was married 19 years. She also was preceded by her mother, Isabel Soares Medeiros, and father, Benjamin Franklin Decker. A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 4 at Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton. All are welcome.
