Rusty Hawkes Obituary

Jackson, SC – Rusty Hawkes, 76, entered into rest on October 12, 2025. Family conducted memorial services will be conducted Saturday, October 18th, at 12 noon at Heights Baptist Church. Pastor Mark Canipe officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 11 until 12 noon. Interment will be private. Rusty was born on September 21, 1949, in San Antonio, TX to the late Russell E. Hawkes and Alma Ottie Preiss Hawkes. Raised in San Antonio, he graduated from Luther Burbank High School. Rusty proudly served his country in the Army from 1967 to 1971. He relocated to Jackson, SC, making it his home for the past 41 years. Rusty was a dedicated HVAC technician for 20 years with Creamer Heating & Air. Rusty was a devoted member and deacon at the Heights Baptist Church and was a member of the Hopewell 127 Masonic Lodge, where he was a past Master. He was an avid baseball fan and a season ticket holder for the Augusta Green Jackets and a loyal Atlanta Braves fan. Rusty loved to travel with his son to many minor league baseball games leaving his son to cherish those memories forever. Rusty is survived by his loving family; son, T.J. Hawkes (Ashlea), daughter, Allison Cleveland (Cooper), grandchildren; T.J. Hawkes, Jr., Luke Hawkes, Bently Gillis, Cody Cleveland and Cheyenne Cleveland.
