AIKEN, SC – Aiken, SC - Robert Wayne Wunder, age 71, peacefully departed this life on September 27, 2024. Born on October 31, 1952, in Polk County, Florida, Robert was the beloved son of the late Clarence Eugene Wunder and Annie Lucille Wunder. Robert spent more than 30 years in Aiken, South Carolina, where he built a fulfilling life and career. He retired as a software engineer from the Savannah River Site, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. Known for his sharp wit and comedic timing, Robert found joy in the simple pleasures of life - whether tending to his yard, savoring meals at local eateries, or staying informed with his regular viewing of Fox News. A gun enthusiast, he found excitement and camaraderie in his passion. He will be remembered for how great of a man he was and that he was always looking out for others. Robert is lovingly remembered by his devoted companion, Katrina Gartrell, who stood by his side through thick and thin, and his cherished dogs, Miss Lilly and Miss Opal, who were his faithful companions. As we remember Robert's life and impact, we invite friends and family to join us in celebrating his legacy. A Celebration of Life for Robert will take place on Sunday, October 5, 2024 at 1:00pm in the George Funeral Home Historic Downtown Chapel with Dr. Chris Masters officiating.
