Robert “Trese” Vern Benson III, age 53, of Onondaga, Michigan, passed away on January 29,2020. Trese was born during the worst snow storm on January 29, 1967, the only child of Janice and Robert Benson II. Thankfully, there was a snowplow they could follow to the hospital. Trese worked as an Information Technologist. But his true love was being an artist. He was an excellent artist, most recently perfecting woodworking and carving. Trese had a big heart of gold and was compassionate and caring.
Trese is survived by his parents and his best friend, Snowflake, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services celebrating Trese’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Vickers Leslie Funeral Home, 109 N. Church Street/P.O. Box 503, Leslie, MI 49251. 517-8789-6600.
“God saw him getting tired, and a cure was not to be,
So, he put his arms around him and whispered ‘Come with me’.
With tearful eyes I watched him suffer and saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, God has broken our hearts.
He only takes the best,
Rest in peace my son.

I love you Trese, you were my best friend. I miss you dearly and hate that you had to go. Hanging out working on all kinds of crafty arts, and talking about anything and everything. Taking silly and cute pictures of Snowflake was always a great time. Thank You for always being there when I needed a shoulder to cry on. I'll keep you locked away inside my heart for the rest of my days my cousin, my best friend.
Love, Lisa

about 3 years ago i moved back to michigan from florida and in that time i got to meet Trese
so creative and artistic with passion and kindness. always such a happy ray of sunshine.
those who have never him surely missed out on such a great guy.
i literally was just texting with him after Christmas and then ....i didnt for like a week an a half so i stopped over just after new years and his dad was there to tell me the news. [so i took it upon myself like any person who cares about ya would and went to see my friend Trese. and i am so glad that i did.
he smiled, just for a quick moment at me when i popped my head around the door and while i only stayed just briefly talking to him, playing with his hair and showing him pics of snowflake and our selfie's from my phone - ... i knew it really REALLY meant alot to him this really hurts my heart cuz i felt like he and i were really close... well he was put in my path in life for a reason -- im blessed to have known him. i find myself picking up my phone looking to see if he has sent me a text like he always would. i know he is in a better place but i just cant help but selfishly want him here right now.
i keep his mom, dad, family and loved ones in my prayers; he is always in my thoughts

Bob and Janice I am so dearly sorry and really without many words.. You may remember me you may not. I grew up with the Adkins family and consistently was staying like I was another member of the family with Jenny. Trese and Kim came over to my house the last she was here from Florida.. It was so Awesome to see him and visit with him. Always, one of the nicest guy's I've ever known. He was a one of a kind person and God truly only takes the best.. My love and prayers go out to you and the whole family... He truly will be missed beyond belief.. You raised a boy that no other could match, a heart that beat to his very own tune, he had a way about him that u felt the true pure love he had because it exhumed from him... The kindness and gentleness that instantly made people feel comfort from him.. Trese, was a pure and true soul and since I was young appreciated every moment id ever spent with and around him... God bless you both and allow him to give you strength and understanding at a time that nothing may make sense and the pain runs so deep at times it may anger you! All my love!
