Robert Jerry Koon, Sr.
Aiken - A celebration of life service for Mr. Robert Jerry Koon, Sr. age 77 will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday September 12, 2018 at Sweetwater Church of God, North Augusta, SC with Rev. Curtis Terry, Rev. Phillip Napier and Richie Proctor officiating. Interment will follow with military honors accorded by the U.S. Army Ceremonial Team in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken with Rev. Edgar N. Foster, Sr. officiating. Mr. Koon entered into rest peacefully surrounded by his loving children and other family members at his residence Saturday September 8, 2018. He was married to the late Peggy Cox Koon, the love of his life for 46 years. Mr. Koon was a son of the late Charles Koon and Nettie Anderson Koon. He was a native and a life long resident of Aiken County and was employed by the Graniteville Company, Greg Division as a shipping supervisor, retiring after 23 years of service. He finished his career as a production operator at Campbell Soup Company in Aiken, retiring after 11 years. Mr. Koon was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a faithful member of Sweetwater Church of God. Before his illness, he loved to golf and enjoyed fishing. His favorite pastimes were attending church services and drinking coffee with his many breakfast buddies at Chik-Fil-A and Bojangles. He was a devout Christian who loved His Savior. He usually wore his I Love Jesus cap while sharing his favorite Bible verses with his friends. Mr. Koon leaves behind four children, Ann (Doug) West, Graniteville, Regina (Darrell) Shealy, Aiken, Robert J. (Holley) Koon, Jr., Aiken, Daniel (Renee) Koon, North Augusta. One Brother, Wayne (Peggie) Koon, Augusta, GA; 16 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren, and several neices and nephews. Mr. Koon was also predeceased by three brothers, Frank, Billy and Randy Koon. Pallbearers will be grandsons Jeremy Frank, Jacob Koon, Kelton Koon, Joshua Shealy, Justin Shealy, and Brandon Batchelor. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Tasha Davis, Dani Frank, Nicole Koon, Victoria Fretwell, Candace Tucker, and Nicole Batchelor. The family has suggested that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105. The family would like to thank Dr. Jeremy Wells and staff for the care they gave their father. Special Thanks also to his granddaughter, Tasha Davis for being his loving caregiver while he was home.
